A spectacular piece of natural Californian crystalline gold.
This exceptional 0.373g native gold specimen comes from the famous Badger Mine (Prescott Mine), Mariposa County, California, USA.
Unlike a conventional water-worn gold nugget, this specimen retains an extraordinary leafy, hackly and highly crystalline structure. Its open three-dimensional formation creates a much larger visual presence than its weight would suggest, with countless tiny reflective surfaces producing superb natural lustre.
Viewed from either side, the specimen reveals cavities, projecting crystalline edges and intricate layers of naturally formed gold. Very little obvious pale quartz matrix is visible, allowing the gold itself to dominate the specimen.
At approximately 10–11mm across, this is a superb miniature display specimen and an excellent example of the distinctive crystalline gold associated with California's historic Mother Lode region.
